25. The enemy of the enemy is my friend

I say this as a fish belly white Southern woman, the longer I'm on the planet (65 years so far) the more I think it's all rooted in racism, sexism and various other forms of tribalism. The social and economic systems have always been (for THOUSANDS of years) set up to benefit the elites to the detriment of everyone else. In the US, Europe and Australia, almost all of those elites are white, Christian males. The idea that the world would ultimately be better, even for the ruling class, if the world was more fair for EVERYONE falls on deaf ears.

The poor white men and their women, who they consider their property, are convinced that the only thing different from them and Trump is they don't have money YET. But they will someday because GOD blesses his followers. Someday, when they become rich (prosperity gospel) they'll be just like Trump and they don't want BIG GOVERNMENT taking their money.

"If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you."
