(5,640 posts)6. The $10,000 figure is a help, but I, too, wish it were more.
I've got grandkids with staggering debt, and their parents in economic hardship because they co-signed. A couple of the kids don't have a prayer of paying it off, because their choices of study didn't translate well into hefty paychecks. Factor in absurdly high rents, and you have financial hopelessness.
