"The Godless Constitution," I learned that a lot of these laws stayed on the books because no one ever challenged them. No one enforced them, either.

For example, "There shall be no religious test for office." All sorts of states had that one on the books. It appears to be gone now.

The biggest group that was discriminated agains was Catholics. I remember all the flap about JFK running for office. I was in junior high then.
