In reply to the discussion: Republicans move to retain Jan. 6 committee documents [View all]LastLiberal in PalmSprings
(13,292 posts)8. From the GQP's "Don't Let The Facts Interfere With Our Fantasies" Department.
If they really cared about what happened on January 6th they would have taken part in the Select Committee. Now they're reduced to trying to attack the results with conspiracy theories and personal attacks on the members of the committee, the witnesses, and the evidence, like videotape of TFG telling his deplorables he'll walk with them to the Capitol to "fight like hell."
Hell, he couldn't even walk the 700 yards for a photo-op at the G7 meeting; they had to carry his fat ass in a golf cart.

So the rule would be limited to the House, which means Senate doesn't have a vote - is that correct?

The Republicans don't care what happened on 1/6 because they already know what happened.

Doing it this way won't help them. The evidence is out there. It's too late for them.

They hope to tie it up in court for as long as possible while they do a PR campaign.

Tie what up in court. Every shred of evidence that can hurt them is with the DOJ & Final Report.

Rebute? They're going to shred it. As in make it disappear forever. Never happened.

What they really want to see is the closed door testimony, the names redacted, and all that.

IMO they don't really know how it all works. They plan on abusing the powers of the committee.
