(8,083 posts)I feel like something may actually happen to dt for the first time (I've felt this way).
My thoughts have been that if something was about to come down, cities (I'm thinking all over the country) will need to be on alert for nut case MAGAT's....And not just in New York and Georgia.
I live in Los Angeles and have been here since '88. I was working at a luxury hotel by LAX in 1992. The General Manager called a special meeting for all department heads (I was the Director of Convention Services)
when word came out that the Rodney King jury had reached a decision (but the verdict hadn't been read yet).
Our security department at the hotel was awesome..... but hey, that's just one team at one hotel in a city of 3 1/2 million (at the time).
Darrell effing Gates will go down in my mind as pond scum who should have been arrested for dereliction of duty! Those riots didn't have to happen the way they did. I was enraged that those awful cops were found innocent too. Something should have been planned. And where was Gates that day/night? Attending an effing fund raiser!
BTW, I don't AT ALL mean to compare the rioters here during Rodney King to the MAGAT's. My point is that cities need to be as prepared as possible when something big is about to happen.
