In reply to the discussion: 'They are missing': Marjorie Taylor Greene confirms GOP has lost several Biden 'whistleblowers' [View all]muriel_volestrangler
(106,339 posts)Comer's accusation, before the dog ate his homework, was that Hunter Biden and other Bidens received money from someone or a company in Romania (a NATO ally and EU member, it should be remembered - this is no different to Trump, who was the actual president, owning golf courses in Scotland and Ireland), and from someone in China - not a friendly country, but not a sanctioned one either (Trumps have had business dealings there too).
Comer admitted that Joe Biden's name didn't occur. And he never claimed that there was a specific action that Joe Biden supported that was involved in these financial exchanges. So, no obvious law breaking, just vague "well there must have been influence" implications (which, for example, is the exact defence for the conservative Supreme Court payments - "there was never a specific quid pro quo" ).
But now they have to admit they don't have a reliable informant, even for that.
But Taylor Greene doesn't just pretend that there's still a case for vague "Joe Biden knew his son did business in China, so he would have favoured them" accusations (favoured them as VP? Since when did a VP get to control foreign policy decisions, apart from, perhaps, Cheney?); she's doubled down, claiming there's a specific payment to President Joe Biden in the accusations, for a specific deed, saying the whistleblower" "fears for their lives" and calling the Bidens "the most evil, corrupt people that have ever existed in American history". With all due respect to the USA, that's a pretty high bar she's set.
