12. My mother took me to Rio the year before Astrud's Boy from Ipanema hit the U.S.

I heard bossa nova in Rio and was mesmerized. Rio was also mesmerizing. I thought it was more beautiful than London or Paris, where my mother had taken me the year before.

I had a CD of Astrud singing that song which I used to play in the car. Sadly, my newer car doesn't have a CD player and that music is lost to me!
