Seattle's Rainier Beach neighborhood is a "minority majority" neighborhood, meaning that it has a population in which more than 50% of the residents are from racial or ethnic minority groups. According to the United States Census Bureau, as of the 2020 Census, Rainier Beach had a population of approximately 16,000 people, with a racial makeup that was 49.5% Black, 20.3% Asian, 16.5% Hispanic or Latino, and 7.2% white. This makes Rainier Beach one of the most diverse neighborhoods in Seattle, and in the state of Washington as a whole.

Rainier Beach has historically been a lower-income neighborhood in Seattle, although it has undergone some changes in recent years as the city has experienced significant growth and development. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the median household income in Rainier Beach in 2019 was $56,928, which is lower than the median household income for Seattle as a whole ($102,486). Additionally, the poverty rate in Rainier Beach in 2019 was 14.7%, compared to a poverty rate of 7.9% for Seattle as a whole.
