I asked, why did you leave Texas? He said if you weren't riding around in limousines you don't want to be in Texas.

He advised Texas considered itself a country, which is what they were before statehood. I'm not familiar with Alamo era very much, but wasn't the US government slow and reluctant to support citizens of the country of Texas against Mexican forces of Santa Ana? I bet this post will get some laughs.
