Because this is an issue that on-the-fence, low-information flibberdigibbet "Independent" voters have actually heard about. The Migrant Crisis is real.

The numbers are staggering, and people are coming from Africa and Asia, not just the Americas, to cross from Mexico.

One thing that's rarely mentioned: Trump's dipshit policies (towards Venezuela, primarily) exacerbated the situation.
