But I think the difference between them is largely a matter of nuance and style (and probably about 20-30 points of IQ) - which is precisely why a (mistaken) 'comfort level' with with Haley (or Johnson?) - even while their core beliefs continue to be anathema - is exactly why they are the more dangerous adversary.

Do I need to point out (for the umpteenth time) how many Republicans continue to deny a legitimate 2020 election? And continue to reject characterizing what followed as 'insurrection'? Does that paint a picture of a party, or potential WH occupant, that would shy away from a trashing another? Are you putting it past a Haley or a DeSantis?

The orange Mussolini at least has the benefit of revealing himself for precisely what he is. And (despite the cult) that's a package that a lot of people just can't swallow.
