(3,582 posts)A person can do that all day, but it's not a real argument. Yes, the IRS takes cash in the form of checks. I have no idea if the NPS takes a check. But, as I said, the NPS should accept cash payments in some form, not just credit/debit cards. A "cash card" system would be a good solution, as another poster mentioned. It's not right to only accept credit/debit cards, which requires a citizen to go through a third-party and is dependent on credit history and worthiness among other restrictions. To address your question, if the NPS offered some type of cash payment (like a 'cash card' from a machine on premises, for instance), I do not think the plaintiffs would have sued. That has nothing to do with whether they accept a check.
