(36,379 posts)He's an Australian citizen. Australia has been pushing for his release for a long time, and he has a lot of public support here. The only ones here who don't support his release and return home is conservatives (though one crossed the floor to vote with the govt on a recent vote on the issue). As our government is a Labor one, and a former PM and current US ambassador accompanied Assange to court this morning, the chances of his passport being revoked is nil to zero.
He's landing in Canberra (that's where I live) this evening. I saw some DUers saying they'd like him to rot in a Russian hell hole. I can guarantee them that at this time of year, Canberra is colder than Siberia and because all the politicians work here, other parts of Australia usually refer to us a hell hole anyway
