(5,208 posts)since possibly Clinton, with a FEW he charmed out of trying to sink him, before the majority Republicans went for blood. The Republicans have mostly been sinking Democratic presidents since Lyndon Johnson, who was experienced enough to have his opposition for lunch. This lack of Republican leaders who remember that they need to not only compromise, but work with the will of the electorate is contrary to the American government and electoral system. The concept of the Republican party to oppose the President to the point of even filibustering themselves (McConnell) is how insane it has become. Thankfully the last election showed the public as catching on as to their best options. Are there enough sane and unintimidated Republicans to save the system?
