Former New York Rep. Michael Grimm (R) was left paralyzed after a horseback riding accident in September.

According to a GoFundMe page set up for Grimm’s recovery on Saturday, the former congressman was thrown from a horse and has been in “the most devastating of situations.” His GoFundMe seeks to elicit donations to help with his “treatment to walk again.”

The former New York lawmaker is a host for Newsmax, a former Marine and former FBI agent. The accident was first reported by the Staten Island Advance.

Former South Shore City Councilman Vincent Ignizio, who now serves as deputy executive director of the New York City Board of Elections, said in a Facebook post that Grimm needs help to “cover the substantial costs that insurance doesn’t cover on his long road to recovery.”

He had come in during the 2010 rout election representing Staten Island in NY-13 & then NY-11 after redistricting. But he eventually had to resign from Congress for tax fraud charges (and went to prison for that).
