(1,869 posts)many charities have been doing exactly what you have said for a month now and have raised plenty of money. I guess some of us will donate to a cause we feel strong about without the need to hear a fancy guitar solo or a band reunion. Some of us will donate for the good of the cause, rather than to hear their own favorite performers.
Irregardless of the fact that they aren't touring or creating new albums - many of the members (those who are still alive) and record labels are still profiting monetarily from already-released albums. And while they are "working" for free tonight, they stand to benefit monetarily in the future from such publicity stunts.
Leave the publicity stunts to the front-page of the Rolling Stones. This event should belong to the families of Sandy victims only.
