9. Nothing has changed for the GOP

and nothing will. They'll just dig in harder and deeper.

They're posturing for the 2014 midterms already

If Boehner caves, he'll lose the Speakership to a Tea Pottier.

If Boehner stands pat, he'll lose in the polls, and get 2/3 of the
blame for going over the Fiscal Cliff.

If the economy improves just a wee bit and steadily, 2014 will see
Democrats gain 25 seats in the House.

But first, the Tea Party radicals will be allowed to make a display of
themselves.

And the GOP will try to blend all their inconsistent ideas into
a consensus that is appealing to the mainstream.

And the GOP will fail.

I marvel at the divided government the Founding Fathers
gave us. They really did study history, they knew human
nature, they had fled religious and political dictatorships.
Their system is still working.

Now if we could just get some relief at the polls on the
state level.
