CBS News reports 27 killed by gunman at Connecticut elementary school [View all]

NEWTOWN, Conn. - A shooting at a Connecticut elementary school this morning left the gunman and 26 others dead, according to CBS News. The Associated Press only confirms that the shooting left the gunman dead and at least one teacher wounded and sent frightened pupils into the parking lot.

The shooter was killed and apparently had two guns, a person with knowledge of the shooting said. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation was still under way. | » Newton School District website

It wasn't clear how many people were injured at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown. ABC7 News has reported multiple deaths among students, which has not been confirmed by the Associated Press. . .
