Senators want commission to look at mass shootings

16. By neutral, do you mean someone who does not care how many Americans die each year from

senseless shootings -- as long as they can have their gun and the possibility of shooting someone themselves?

It is very hard to be neutral about guns.

Gun fanatics need to consult their own common sense and propose some realistic solutions here.

In this case, the mother encouraged her son's interest in guns.

Every gun fanatic should take note of that fact and ask him- or herself what can be done.

Those of us who don't want to be bothered with owning guns quite naturally would just as soon ban all but the most basic hunting rifles. If gun lovers have a different alternative that they think is better, they should suggest it.

Because, if the nation faces any more shootings of this brutality, barbarity, cruelty and hideousness, we will move toward a total ban.

I don't favor a total ban, but it's up to the NRA and its supporters to propose a workable solution short of that.
