As ICE ramps up immigration sweeps, New Orleans' sanctuary city status could be put to the test

OK – clearly there’s no need for NOPD to get involved, or any other local authorities.

And there’s no such thing as a ‘sanctuary city’; state and local authorities cannot be compelled to enforce Federal laws – including immigration laws.

It’s perfectly appropriate, lawful, and constitutional for state and local authorities to refrain from using their resources to detain undocumented immigrants.
