(2,508 posts)The point is if people don't feel "safe" sharing their "I voted for him and he sucks" stories in the media right now, then it sounds like a bunch of democrats complaining- and republicans take note of that as they vote on various bills. They care about rocking the boat with their own base, not about whether people who will never vote for them anyway are unhappy. Every single political creature, republican or democrat, cares first and foremost about being reelected. It is *everything*, about patriotism, above morality, above doing the right thing, even above getting $ doing it.
Those of us in the federal sector want and need these voices and stories out there. We NEED republicans in congress to say, "oh hey, shit, now OUR voters are mad, we better put some breaks on this express!" While it may feel good to just say, "well haha, leopard ate your face, what did you expect?". it doesn't accomplish nearly as much as those voices being heard can.
