22. Yes, I think he got caught up in the moment. I think, originally, the con man in him was

looking for a way to increase his Beltway value & increase his speaking fees. And, as you say, the ego is a most powerful thing.

I'm not even an armchair psychologist, & I hate making a diagnosis, but I think old Newt has mental issues.

I can't stand listening to him talk. I wish I could describe how awful he sounds. And, when you put the sound of his voice to the words he says as he stomps his feet whining that nothing is ever, ever his fault, but the fault of everyone else - why it's enough to make a grown woman vomit!


Glad I got that off my chest.

PS: I've also thought this dog & pony show the GOP has been doing is mostly a ruse to allow someone to come in late in the game, whereby missing all the debates & scrutiny - with most everyone in the GOP relieved that they won't care where or how someone like Jeb Bush or Eric Cantor stand. Yea, I say Cantor because: Did you see the intense look on his face during SOTU?
