Trust me, church property has been monetized by greedy pols and their lord chancellors many, many times, and always at a loss to the faithful who sacrificed their pennies to accumulate it. It's happening now in fact. And not once to my knowledge has that looted church property gone to feed the hungry. In any case I've never seen that particular staff and I've seen two popes up close and personal, Benny twice. Here's a pic from last October that I posted in another thread:
