ETA Nasrallah was actually a breakaway candidate and former VP from the ruling party. He essentially split the LIBRE vote, and having two candiates that appealed to the same broad coalition paved the way for the other guy to win...
If anything I would blame selfish ego for the right wing victory. Less Trump and others.
