Donald Trump repeatedly claimed to have dispatched "investigators" to Hawaii who were finding "unbelievable" information, but reporting from sources including The New York Times indicates that there is no evidence that any such team was ever actually sent or made any effort to find documents. The claim of investigators was a rhetorical device used to fuel the conspiracy theory.
