I don’t think anyone fears what the regime has to say.

I’d rather the US not get involved here (at least militarily), but I’d imagine covert support for the protestors was standard policy anyways even before this administration.

Of course we can’t trust anything coming out of this administration, so I’d imagine they’ll screw this up anyways. I find it laughable that the same lunatic that wanted to see the military cracking down on protesters at home is threatening another authoritarian regime over their abuses.
