Oglala Sioux Tribe President Frank Star Comes Out announced on social media that four tribal members were recently detained by ICE in Minneapolis, prompting a formal response from tribal leadership about Native Americans rights in federal immigration actions.
According to the Presidents Office, the men were homeless and staying near the Little Earth housing complex when they were taken into custody. A tribal member who witnessed the incident confirmed they were enrolled Oglala Sioux citizens, though their names have not yet been released.
Star Comes Out said tribal attorneys have been instructed to contact Minnesota Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan to locate the men and verify their identities....
