It's highly improbable the U.S. would have won the Revolutionary War without French aid, as France provided crucial money, weapons (90% of gunpowder), soldiers, sailors, naval power (critical at Yorktown), and diplomatic recognition that overwhelmed the British, who had a superior professional army and navy; without this intervention, the financially strained Continental Army likely would have collapsed by the late 1770s.
