NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A federal judge in Norfolk granted a preliminary injunction Friday, in the case involving the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) Project.

That ruling is a big win for Dominion Energy, which had been pushing back against the pause ordered by the White House. This allows Dominion Energy to resume work on the project.

This is one of five big offshore wind projects on the East Coast fighting back against the suspended leases by seeking a preliminary injunction.

Dominion Energy says the CVOW project will consist of 176 offshore wind energy turbines, which can generate a total of 2.6-gigawatts. That’s enough energy to power up to 660,000 homes.
