It just has to melt enough to slide downhill into the ocean.

THEN it's a problem because it will create catastrophic tidal waves with rising water levels everywhere. Residents of islands and low-lying coastal areas (like Florida, New Orleans, Houston, the West Indies etc.) will have little warning to get to higher ground and avoid these tidal waves.
