"The U.S. airbase in Greenland, known as Pituffik Space Base (formerly Thule Air Force Base), is the northernmost military installation of the United States, located approximately 1,524 km from the North Pole.
Overview of Pituffik Space Base
Location: Situated on the northwest coast of Greenland, Pituffik Space Base is strategically positioned 1,210 km north of the Arctic Circle. It serves as a critical site for U.S. military operations and space surveillance.
History: Originally established in 1941 as Thule Air Base, it was created to assist Denmark in defending its territories against German aggression during World War II. The base was rebranded as Pituffik Space Base in 2023, reflecting its current role within the U.S. Space Force.
Current Operations: The base is home to the 821st Space Base Group and plays a vital role in missile warning and space surveillance operations. It hosts advanced missile detection systems and is part of the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) network, providing critical capabilities for national defense. "
It's currently an early warning NORAD setup, in case Russian nukes come flying over, so Trump's claim it is needed for national security, already an established and operational fact, is pure baloney.
If Greenland took it over and shut it down, it would have a negative effect on Trump's 'national security' claim.
Besides, it would make a great landing strip for NATO countries' soldiers and supply needs.
'Make America Go Away' might yet happen.
