That will be essential stuff since I can't/won't do the hard liquor..like the old cook who survived the Titanic. He survived the frigid Atlantic ocean because of the blood / alcohol levels. I think he was a survivor in the real life accident and Atlantic cruise-liner sinking.
Back 27 years ago we had a snow storm dump 10 inches; the electric was out for 4 days. I was stuck in my house with the sweet Great Danes (my kids) and we just cuddled to stay warm. This old house was like a cold refrigerator, maybe closer to a freezer.
I threw all my coats and blankets on me and the Danes..... it was really tough.
But I don't think that scenario will ever repeat again. The city and county have since obtained high power storm equipment with the intake of millions in tax revenue. 27 years brought on all the subdivisions (after massive deforestation and construction in my area). The new luxury housing and the rich folks brought in a cash cow for the city county treasury.
The city county government will not upset the high tax dollar homes. My little old 1945 house is just a speck around here, with 2 acres of original forest. An eye sore for some, but I benefit from the location. The city/county encroached into my once undesirable area and built million dollar homes in what was a low income county built with crude & sparse small cabins in the woods.

So if the lights go out it won't take long to return...I won't be shoveling ....My car will be buried. .I will just wait out the storm; wait for snow to melt; and call an uber if I have to go anywhere.
