(10,681 posts)46. The kid across the street from me, a very close friend, had those big clunky Forrest Gump braces on his legs
from polio. He had it before he moved into our neighborhood (from NYC). He struggled to do anything physical, it really sucked. I wouldn't wish that on anyone, not to mention the whole lifetime iron lung nightmare, which has already been discussed.
