His father is a conservative.

I guess i wonder what "deliberately" different means in this context.

Like turn a news outlet into propaganda? Or use it as a megaphone for an agenda (like competing against misinformation in this context?)

Ultimately if he were doing something deliberately different it would be to not shape a media outlet into his ideological vision. This could be a positive because Murdoch is a liberal unlike his brother who own NewsCorps.

This news is consistent with the idea that he and his sister have been planning to use their fortunes to create ideologically opposing media empires and fueling struggling digital entities like Vox.
