He'd take his claque with him because without people to praise him, he slides into rage an panic.

I think he fucked things up so badly in Iran that he's being isolated from the decision making process. I think they will praise him for making the decisions they make in his absence. It might even work, although the Iran situation is so completely fouled up that nothing much is going to work to straighten it out.
