20. "The desire to purchase one of these should be enough proof of mental illness to disallow the sale."

The desire to post something so hyperbolic, broad-brushed, and frankly offensive to the mentally disabled, should be proof someone is not mature enough to discuss adult matters.

Guns and ammunition aren't going anywhere. A new AWB WILL pass, and it is a start. But shouting down the mental-health aspect sounds very Republican-esque. This is a chance to improve not only gun regulation, but mental-health treatment and monitoring. Undo the damage that making mental health a taboo topic that the 80s did.

Why can't we have both? I think we can, but comments like yours, which I do realize are an extremely tiny yet vocal minority, will leave us with the status-quo. Some executive order for better back-ground checks, any loop-holes for no background checks (gun show, etc) is all we will get if we come to the table with that sort of position.

And by "comments like yours", I am referring to what I quoted, along with the "all gun owners are mass-murderer" statements that are not helpful by any means.
