LAS CRUCES, N.M. (KRQE) Republican Party of New Mexico Treasurer Kimberly Skaggs has been arrested and charged for leaving the scene of a deadly hit-and-run crash in Las Cruces, according to court documents.
Skaggs, 54, is charged with leaving the scene of an accident and tampering with evidence. She was booked into the Doña Ana County Detention Center on Wednesday at 3:43 p.m.
According to court documents, deputies with the Doña Ana County Sheriffs Office responded to a crash involving a bicyclist near 850 N Fairacres on Monday around 2:46 p.m.
The victim, before he died due to his injuries on the scene, identified himself as a 40-year-old Andrew Brown. According to court documents, Brown was hit by a vehicle while her was riding his bike across the road. The vehicle involved at the time was traveling north on Fairacres Road.
