Of the 62 mass shootings in the US in the past 30 years not one was stopped before it was a mass shooting. Of those 0, 0 were stopped by an armed civilian.
It's the "look at my magic rabbit foot. It keeps elephants away" gag.
"How can you tell?"
"Do you see any elephants around here?"
What you'd have to do is look at how many mass shootings were about to start or had started and were stopped. Problem is, until they're "mass" they're either just shootings or, in the case of those that hadn't yet started, a guy with an unfired gun.
Quick: count those, determine which were stopped or inhibited by the presence of armed civilians, and get back to me. There are just 30 years of data to pore through.

That's because nimrods with concealed carry permits have NEVER stopped a mass shooting.
