Mr. west, has it right. I believe women who are physically able to perform the duties of ground combat should be allowed. However, most cannot. Moreover, most men do not get to choose their MOS (at least in The Marine Corps jobs are often appointed by, "the needs of The Marine Corps&quot . Is it then fair that women get the choice of jobs? Two women officers were allowed to volunteer to take the Marine Corps Infantry Officers Course. This very tough class fails about 25 percent of its students. Both women failed to complete the course they volunteered to take. Finally, we all gasp when a soldier or Marine is seen being dragged through the streets and dismembered. Now think of the reaction when the video id of a female being violently raped and dismembered shows up on the evening news. I do not believe that an unfairly appointed female who, in most cases, is less physically capable should be put into potential hand to hand combat situations. The potential for poor outcomes to themselves, the military, and the country outweigh the benefits. Infantry is clearly different than say tanks or armored vehicle units. I have seen combat up close and personal just meters from my enemy...I pray nobody should see it.
