(15,312 posts)As far as I can tell, this obsession with Benghazi seems to be born of a belief that, if only "the American people" would see it as a "terrorist attack," it would scuttle Obama and would have paved the way for Romney to win. Of course, it never gained any traction during the election because nobody really cared whether it was or not. And, as Clinton told them during the embarrassing "made for TV" fiasco with The Romper Room, it doesn't really matter.
But the GOP still clings to their bubble-born and bankrupt theory that, if Obama has a "terrorist attack" on his watch, it will somehow make him indistinguishable from the repeated failures of the GOP, especially he Bush cabal, when it comes to national defense and, thereby, weaken him politically. His reelection proves the theory is bogus, but they just keep hammering away because they're in their own little bubble of a belief system.
