the deal he signed had the language in it that averted the default on the nation's debt last year... so was he supposed to allow the nation to default on its obligations? You might try seeing the grey in the matter instead of focusing on the black and whites of it.

The rethugs are wholly and totally responsible for where this is right now--they refuse to adopt revenue increases from the wealthy and corporations. The "American people" they're talking about are those who fund their re-election campaigns, not those who are going to be quite hurt by this.

When Ryan, Boehner and those of their ilk sat around last summer in their circle jerk behind their sequestration victory, they were pleased as punch that finally, they'd be able to throw social programs overboard and leave a lot of people to shift for themselves. Now that we're less than a week away from that happening and they see that their policy is failing before their eyes, it's now President Obama's problem. No, not hardly. And the American public sees that clearly.
