In reply to the discussion: Obama Tells Democrats They Must Be Open to Entitlement Changes [View all]Third Doctor
(1,574 posts)I've been a Obama supporter but I'm not a lockstepper. I've offered excuses and tried to explain away certain things the POTUS has done but I can't support this.
First he would not go after the wall street people that caused this mess in the first place.
Secondly he is far too willing to touch the big three. Democratic cornerstones that goes all of the way back to FDR.
What was this last election about? It was about fairness and protecting these programs wasn't it?!! For all intents and purposes Obama should have lost last year with amost 8% unemployment rate but we fought hard and we won. Now a few months later we are hearing this??!! We have to deal with the GOP and their dumbass supporters trying to destroy what little safety net that we (and they) have and now we have to worry about Obama too?
This will have a effect of splitting the Dem party in a time that it needs to be united. Plus Obama can't run again so the Dems in congress who are running will have to go home and explain to their constituents why they touched these programs. SSI does not contribute to the debt and it's a fund that's been paid in to.
I just heard that Bernie Sanders is going to fillibuster any proposal to harm SSI. BERNIE SANDERS is doing the job OBAMA should be doing.
I have to stop now. I'm too angry to continue.
