(2,795 posts)If he ends up moving into one of the apartments, most of his social security payment will go for rent and what little is left over will go to pay for groceries and utilities.
There is a possibility that my sister, who will retire soon but has a modest retirement fund, will move in with him and take care of him. So we have a few options. I'm not sure many people do or will when the time comes. And that is where the govt should have some kind of system in place for all of these autistic adults who may not have a social network to help them.
They are all worried about the baby boomer generation retiring and putting a strain on the system. Maybe autistic adults won't be those kind of numbers, but I do believe it's going to be a demographic which the govts, state and federal, are turning a blind to.
