Personally I like the idea of having an untaxed window between $115K and $250K because that income range hasn't really seen their income go up much over the last several years. However, the top 1% to 2% has seen their incomes go up dramatically. The untaxed window can shrink a little every year until all income is subject to FICA taxes. People have forgotten that the Social Security ACT established the OASDI program, which means Old-Age, Survivors and Disabled INSURANCE federal program. Like any insurance, maybe you'll get a payout from the insurance "company", maybe you won't. If you're lucky you'll live long enough to get the Old Age benefit. If you're NOT lucky, you or your dependents will get benefits from the Survivors or Disability parts of the program. I would think, as members of a civilized society, we would not want to see the elderly, the disabled or widows and widowers with school age children LIVE IN POVERTY. That is what the OASDI is for and NO ONE should complain about paying for it.
