Huckabee Hints at 2016 Presidential Run

36. There were strange things about the Hucksters.

They were easy to spot the last couple of times around. Many of them had highly technical professions, or were studying them; all were deeply religious; most were evangelistic in both their religion and politics, and seemed to be propelled toward trying to sell Huckabee's peculiar brand of upbeat malevolence.

I don't understand exactly why, but Huckabee has more of the stature of a religious figure than as a politician among his adherents. That is highly unusual to me, considering the deeply un-Christian (in theory, not practice) live-and-let-die policies he clearly supports.

It suggests to me that Huckabee might be attracting only those people who can be comfortable with that sort of contradiction, thereby serving as a strong attractant for the conservative base and as a repellant to the 77 percent of Americans who know better.

So welcome aboard, Huck! Better hope Jeb picks you as a running mate and not the other way around....
