IIRC, before McCain named Palin, Alaska was swinging toward Obama. I don't think he had over 50% yet, but it was pretty impressive showing in the polls for a Democrat, let alone an person of color. So, I think some of those people have to be anti-bigot, too, including some indie and Republican votes?

That is just my knee jerk reaction, though. I am not from Alaska and you are, so you would know much better.
