Clearly the right wingers fear the vote more than they fear the gun.

The shooter in this case was a well-educated pharmacist living alone in a 2300 square foot home. He was described in a previous article as "politically conservative". The motive for the shooting was at first believed to be over the removal of some trees from his property and his two victims were believed to be targeted because they pushed for the removal of those trees from their position on the homeowner's association. There are questions as to whether that was actually the motive or if Hardy just snapped for no apparent reason. At any rate, the rights of homeowner's associations are another recent target of our rightwing NC legislature.
