I see Hagel and Kerry making a serious gesture of solidarity with working people, also making it clear that they're not profiting from the sequester (with the implication that the GOP is) and have a personal interest in resolving it.
I've shared a waiting room with working people who perceived the sequester as an attack on their lives by DC pols, and when Obama spoke up on CNN the afternoon the sequester kicked in to sympathize with Capitol Hill janitors losing part of their income it really resonated with them. I mean it REALLY resonated. So I wouldn't discount the power of a gesture and this is a good one.

Eric Holder should be in the US Supreme Court and I think Kerry could afford to work for free
