Sadly, anyone can get dementia, especially if they reach the sort of age that Thatcher and Reagan did. The Labour Prime Minister Harold Wilson eventually developed Alzheimers, for example.

Thatcher and Reagan didn't have the same disease: Reagan had Alzheimers, while Thatcher had multi-infarct dementia from having several small strokes.
