her arrogance and ego will not allow it. The charity is no longer in memory of her sister, it is, in her mind, HER own legacy to greatness and she would let it die rather than step down for the 'greater good'.

I suspect you are right, it will eventually fade away unable to regain it's credibility. Even if it manages to linger on it will be only a shadow of what it once was and all due to subjecting itself to rabid right wing politics.
